Security First Bank: Providing personalized service that understands agriculture’s unique needs
Locally owned and operated, Security First Bank is the newest bank in the Central Valley since its establishment in 2007.
The company’s founders identified the need for a good community bank in Fresno to service cliental that are underserved by larger banks. It was important that the bank still offer the qualities of a larger bank, while at the same time making the client’s banking experience more personalized.
With its emphasis in financial and professional services, Security First Bank is a commercial bank that specializes in business banking and agricultural-related finance. While Security First Bank is the smallest in the Central Valley with only $100 million in assets, the bank does not fall short on the services provided to cliental. Staff work with customers to identify and solve their financial needs. Providing these services, while delivering a highly personalized, small bank experience would be very difficult for a larger bank to match, said Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer Kevin Williams.
Security First Bank has approximately 14 employees. Each are experienced bankers with histories in agricultural lending. The bank understands the demands of the agricultural industry and ensures that every agricultural loan is customized to fit the needs of the client and his/her operation.
The bank believes in re-investing in the community and contributes to an array of diverse local charities. “We want to be a part of the community and integrate into it,” said Williams.
In 2012, Security First Bank became a Friends of the Family Farm sponsor. It was a “natural fit,” explained Williams, adding that many of the bank’s Directors are involved in agriculturally-related businesses. With their main territory consisting of Fresno and Madera counties, it is apparent why Security First Bank puts such a large emphasis on establishing agriculturally-related lending.
Security First Bank knows the importance of growing one relationship at a time with its clients, therefore, the bank does not focus on growing quickly. Staff want their clients to take pride in their bank, said Williams. “We’re a hands-on bank, we want to know the customers and surround them with good accountants,” Williams added.
Some customers have saved approximately $40,000 a year just by switching from a larger bank to Security First Bank, said Williams. Security First Bank provides a full gamut of services and works to fit the niche of those customers who have been under-served by other banks, added Williams.
